Two young men have grown up in a military academy that specializes in the martial arts. They both recall having met in the first grade, but remember little else, except for vague dream-like memories of another life. Now they are graduating....but to what?
The boys are very different. Tandin – blond, violet colored eyes, with white skin stretched over sinuous muscles – has strange powers that he doesn’t understand and tries to hide. He is brooding, introspective, wondering, about not only who his parents were or who he is, but about life in general. What’s it all about? Is there any kind of meaning to it?
Thomas Tanaka knows only that he is of Japanese ancestry. He has raven black hair and snappy dark eyes and is built like a “Tank”, thus his nick name. He could not care less what life is about. He just wants to get out of this school and start living it.
For years they have pleaded with the Chancellor for information about themselves only to get the same tired reply, “All in good time.” Finally, they believe, they will get some answers, but instead they get sent to another school, in Las Vegas. They are disappointed yet intrigued, as the Chancellor says he would give anything to trade places with them.
They are whisked away from the Academy by a very attractive woman who takes them on a circuitous and exciting trip to Vegas where they meet more beautiful women. Slowly, they learn about their past, who they are, and what is expected of them.
They are to take an incredible journey to Alaska to a strange and mysterious place said to be inhabited by a matriarchal society where women are dominant socially, physically, and even sexually.
This is a story about Tandin and Tank, who have had limited contact with the opposite sex. Learning to cope and rethink their views on women, and discovering that inability to adapt and compete in this strange environment could lead to emasculation and even death. They learn about life and, most importantly, they learn about themselves – unfortunately, much of it the hard way.

This book will keep you in suspense!!!!!

I love this book because it gets you hooked right away on the first page, and you already get some insight on the personalities of the main characters. I also enjoyed the rareness of the story, very seldom do you ever read a book about women being superior and in control. Haha it kinda gives off the feeling to 'not mess with women'and the weakness a man has for them. If you like twists and excitement, or maybe the feeling of not knowing what will happen next, this book is for you. The Shepherd's Staff has something for anyone, whether you're into horror, sci-fi, romance, suspense, and action you're going to love this book it's all in it :)

Suspenseful Alaska tale

Interesting book about 2 young men and their adventures in Alaska, with a science fiction/ fantasy twist. Love the descriptions of Alaska. I'm not a big SciFi reader but found the book entertaining and intriguing. Easy to read and what a great value on Kindle! I picked up this book from small book store on the Oregon coast last year. Happy to see it on Amazon from a local NW author.

Tantalizing, Breathtakingly Sexy Adventure.

Wow! What a great adventure. I highly recommend this book for all teenagers. This is a coming of age blue print for young men to understand their sexuality from a lighthearted fun exploratory adventure. This book teaches young men how and why to respect and cherish the women in their lives. The young warriors both male and female portrayed here by Richard Brinker have the core values I feel we all want our children to grow up and have. What a great way for us parents to start up "The Talk" Thank you Mr Brinker. Way more fun then Dr. Phil...
