In this book I will showcase prevalent art movements of the 20th century and give instructions on creating kids art projects that will help them understand the ideas and emotions behind those movements. The art movements follow a progressive timeline starting with Expressionism and leading into Contemporary Art. All of these projects can be done with multiple age groups, but there are some that require finer motor skills. Projects for older kids are noted in each section.

For anyone attempting to do projects with kids there are certain supplies that become staples in your cabinet. Aside from the usual suspects (craft paper, safety scissors, washable paint, etc) there are versatile items that will pop up again and again. One of these items is Mod Podge, an adhesive glue that dries completely clear and can be used as a sealant on paper crafts and collages. Once you begin using Mod Podge you will never know how you lived without it. Another versatile supply is condiment and spray bottles. These can be used in a variety of projects that involve paint or gluing, and can cause some messy fun.

For this book, I had the help of a few different kids of different ages who have very little experience with art projects. Some of the finished pieces may look a little rough or unrefined, but that’s ok because the concept was not lost on them. This book really does contain great art projects for kids.

I love this book! It really does have great projects for kids. I can't wait to try them with my kiddos. Contains projects in these styles/movements: expressionism, cubism, surrealism, art deco & art nouveau (a project based on Gustav Klimt's "Tree of Life" is really cool!), folk art, psychedelic art, pop art,pixel art, street art, and comic book art. Each chapter gives a very basic intro. to the style/movement and lists some major artists of the style, which is a perfect jumping off point for more individual research. Next, a project is introduced with simple instructions and list of supplies needed. I was pleasantly surprised by this book.

This has great art ideas for many ages-I can also use it for crafty gifts! This was a good find, I recommend it to anyone who has kids and needs homeschool art ideas, anyone that needs rainy day time killers, or someone like me who is not to creative on my own but can follow instructions. :)

Intelligent and Well Founded

Dan Jarrard has such a beautiful way with words. With a logic based and Biblical approach he perfectly explains something that takes most Sabbath Keepers several hours of conversation. The book is effective and efficient and I would recommend it to anyone with questions about Sabbath Keeping Christians!!

THE 7th DAY IS THE 7th DAY

Before I begin I must state I obtained a paperback copy of this book through a giveaway on LibraryThing.com and the following is my honest opinion for this book.

Unlike most individuals who might read this book I'm not a Christian, I'm Jewish [the "original" religion]. I've always been amazed how basically all Christians celebrate the seventh day as Sunday. And how the Roman Catholics perpetually violate the 2nd Commandment by having Christ on the Cross in front of the church and all the statues of various saints throughout the rest of it, statues to which the parishioners pray to.

This book, written by Dan Jarrod, gives a relatively comprehensive reason for the seventh day, the Sabbath, on Saturday; which it accomplishes by citing quotations from both the Old and New Testaments, without approaching it in an overly preaching manner.

All one needs to do to have a totally non-sectarian reason for Saturday is to simply look at any calendar. All weeks start with Sunday and ends with Saturday.

In short, this book should be read by all, regardless of which Abrahamic faith [Judaism, Christianity, or Islam] one might belong to; which is why I'm giving this book 5 STARS.

A Quick Read From an Interesting Perspective

Dr. Dan Jarrard is a Biblical scholar who discovered the Sabbath truth after being a Sunday-Keeping Pastor for many years. Impressed that he should follow Biblical facts rather than tradition, Dr. Jarrard set out to find what the Bible has to say about keeping the Sabbath.

The book is extremely well written and to the point. It's a short read (1-2 hours) with a few main points that will leave you impressed with a Biblical basis for Sabbath-Keeping. Whether you are a Sabbath-Keeper, the family member of a Sabbath-Keeper, or simply someone wanting to know more about Sabbath-Keeping this is where you should begin!

Dr. Jarrard doesn't spend any time arguing with those that disagree with him but rather focuses on his reasons for Sabbath observance. The book is a simple to follow, short account of the Biblical reasons, "Why Dr. Dan Jarrard is a Sabbath-Keeping Christian" and can give a lot of insight into the reasons why millions of Christians choose to keep the Sabbath every week.

Hugh Tait, former Deputy Keeper of the Department of Medieval and Later Antiquities in the British Museum, is an honorary fellow of the Corning Museum of Glass and a former president of the International Association for the History of Glass. His numerous publications include The Golden Age of Venetian Glass (1979) and, as editor, Seven Thousand Years of Jewelry (1986).
