About the Author
Gord Stellick is one of Canada's best-knownsports personalities, on both sides of the cameras and microphones. He began working with the Toronto Maple Leafs part-time in 1975 at the age of 18. He rose through the organization to become Assistant to the General Manager, then Assistant GM, and ultimately General Manager of the Leafs in 1988. To this day, he remains the youngest GM in NHL history (30 years old when he assumed the position). After 16 months as Leafs GM, he became Assistant GM for the New York Rangers for two years.
Stellick returned to Toronto in 1991, and has been on the media side ever since. He was the colour commentator on all Leaf radio broadcasts from 1991 to 1995, and a member of the Leafs game broadcast team from 1995 to 1998 on CHCH-TV. He was a hockey analyst at The Score (formerly Headline Sports) before joining Rogers' Sportsnet in 2002. He has hosted sports radio talk shows on the FAN 590 since 1993. As well he is a hockey insider/analyst for the radio station, and hosted the pre- and post-game hockey broadcasts, Blue and White Tonight, on the FAN 590. He is the co-author of two hockey books, has appeared on CBC, Canada AM on CTV, CTV Newsnet, Sportsline on Global TV, and is in demand as an emcee or speaker at corporate and charity events.

About the Author
JAMES L. SNYDER is the pastor of the Family of God Fellowship in Ocala, Florida, a Christian and Missionary Alliance church (1973 to present). He is recognized as an authority on the life and ministry of A. W. Tozer, and has written a number of books as well as numerous essays in Christian periodicals about Tozer. He has a weekly radio ministry, writes a weekly syndicated newspaper column carried by 35 newspapers, as well as over a dozen monthly magazines, both online and print.

A.W. TOZER began his lifelong pursuit of God at the age of 17 after hearing a street preacher in Akron, Ohio. Oh to have a faith that disrupts this ordinary life of mine! This is my desire. I want to see with these earthly eyes - God move mountains and people to do miracles in the presence of man - not to have such a blinded faith that I fail to see God in movement!

Tozer expertly unwraps the mysteries of God in such a way that you can not help to feel wrapped in the very presence of God. I found myself wanting to write more and more quotes on my FB page and to send messages to friends. This is one of those books that impacts your life in such a way that it is almost to profound to put words to. Tozer is one of those voices of history that I wish I could have heard him speak in his prime. I am amazed at his prophetic words and how applicable they were in his day and still applicable today.

A must read for all believers

Probably one of the best books I have ever read dealing with situations in life. After I started reading this book, I ended up in the hospital undergoing triple bypass surgery. I went into this "interruption" of my life with a deep desire to learn what Father was wanting to show me. This was probably one of the greatest experiences of my life and one I am grateful for.

Howard Stern meets John Grisham

The plot of the story isn't bad, and the author does a good job of tying up all the loose ends. However, the over-the-top sexual violence is totally unnecessary to the story and serves only to make one think that the author is apparently some sort of perverted BDSM devotee. The character Natalie is mostly unbelievable, at least in terms of her constant stream of juvenile insults centered around, what else, sex.

Oh, and the correct word is "fledgling," Mr. Kelly.

OK, I will admit I downloaded this book for free, but I honestly wanted to read it and like it. I am from CA and love these types of books, but I was very disappointed. I seriously MADE myself read until the end. It never got better, just filled with stupid sexual jokes that were not witty or funny. It was forced humor.

The story line was almost good and it had such great potential, but fell flat with a couple really unbelievable parts.
I remember hearing once that writers can write anything they want, go as far as they want with a book, but it should be somewhat believable or at least the reader must believe it. That is where this book lost me. It would be like Charles Manson getting out of prison! Sorry NEVER going to happen.

Author has talent just needs to stop with the dumb humor. I actually hate leaving bad reviews. I almost want to apologize.

Was pretty good read until.....

I probably shouldn't review this book as I didn't read much of it. It was pretty good in the beginning, but then descriptions of animal abuse appeared. I didn't read much of that either. I don't know about other readers but I'm tired of the serial killer that the writer creates to commit acts which are written solely for the "ick" factor. If the reader doesn't mind or likes to read about horrible acts, maybe this book is for you, maybe I'll turn to the end to see what happens.

Fun Read

I read the description of this book and it sounded kind of interesting. The united States has a demon locked up in a big glass cage and we are trying to figure out what he really is and wants. To honest I just wanted something lightweight and fun. I didn't expect much but I really ended up really loving this book. It had in interesting premise and was written well. There are moments of fun romantic comedy to moments of horror. There are discussions of religion and faith and science versus faith. I just can't say enough. I don't want to ruin everything so I won't go too much into the plot. But I loved Bub the demon and all the people involved with him. All I could think the whole time was it would make a great movie. Really, a fast paced beach read. I was even a little sad when I reached the end. I wasn't ready to let it all go.

Intriguing idea plus action!!

I bought this as a cheap download and loved it!! A monster that looks like the devil is found in 1906 and awakens now. The scientists in a bunker try to communicate with it, and quickly find that it out-thinks them as it tries to escape. I'm no fan of horror, but I thought that was only a small part here. Really, a fun techno-thriller. I've ordered some others of his, which I am anxious to try. Good fun.

Hokey, silly, overblown treatment of a truly fascinating subject -- ORIGIN is not ready for prime time!

J. A. Konrath says, in the "Author's Afterword" to his novel ORIGIN, "I was thinking JURASSIC PARK meets THE EXORCIST, and I could already picture the action figures when the movie came out." That pretty much sums up what's wrong with the novel. Konrath has an interesting concept here - back in 1906 a strange capsule is discovered containing a dormant creature that looks very much like Satan. President Roosevelt sends the creature to a specially designed underground vault where it is studied for decades. Finally, in present day, it wakes up, and a specially selected team of flawed scientists and religious figures has to figure out what it really is and what it really means to humanity.

Unfortunately, Konrath's fixation on the kinds of things he thinks will translate to a big budget movie (complete with action figures!) detract from what could have been a fascinating investigation of religion, myth, and the origin of life. Rather than focus on the religious and spiritual dilemma presented by the presence of this creature, Konrath writes in grotesque detail about animals and people being tortured, torn apart, and devoured. There's a rather ridiculous romance between the two central characters, linguist Andy and veterinarian Sunshine (yes, Sunshine), both of whom are so insecure and love-phobic that I was reminded of high school. It was almost impossible to believe the flirting and fooling around these two were doing while a demon was on the rampage a few floors below them. Add to that a race-against-the-clock to prevent a nuclear detonation, another race-against-the-clock to find the way out of the installation, and an ending that's perfectly set up for sequels, and you can see the movie Konrath was dreaming of. But it's not a very good book.

I was hoping for a more serious and thoughtful religious debate. Linguist Andy is brought in to help communicate with the newly-awakened demon, who is speaking in an undecipherable language. But within hours, the demon is speaking fluent English, so Andy doesn't need to translate much of anything (aside from some hieroglyphs that any university professor could have deciphered). The actual religious debate is relegated to a Priest and a Rabbi, who spend a lot of time arguing over the divinity of Christ and the reality of the Devil. However their debate seems childish, without depth, and ultimately naïve.

Konrath calls this novel a "technothriller," but I'm not sure that's the right word for it. The actual technology in the novel is nowhere near as complex or believable as it is in Crichton's novels, and the actual "thriller" aspects have little to do with technology (and everything to do with monsters, gore, and kissing someone who's just been attacked by demonic bat creatures). There's nothing very "techno" about that!

ORIGIN reads as if it were the first draft of what could have been an intriguing and exciting adventure story. Unfortunately, all Konrath could see were the dollar signs and the movie contract, neither of which materialized. The novel is just too hokey, too silly, and too overblown to do justice to its subject matter. I can't recommend it.

This book unlocks the power of wheatgrass!

I had no idea of just how powerful this stuff was until reading this book. Once you read it, there is no turning back. You will want to make sure you get your daily serving every single day without fail. Tyler explores the power of natural resistance power which plays an important role in revealing how the grass works. The part I didn't know before reading this book was the role of chlorophyll in wheatgrass but not in any other plants. That makes this something special you simply can't get in any other natural source. I loved this book and it really changed my view of wheatgrass!
