About the Author
Dr. LeVeau earned his BS degree in Education with emphasis in mathematics, physics, and physical education at the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO; his Certificate in Physical Therapy from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN; his MS in Physical Education from the University of Colorado; and his PhD in Biomechanics from Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA.  

He has taught mathematics and science at Horace Mann Jr. High School in Colorado Springs, CO, and served as faculty in physical education and physical therapy departments at West Chester State College in West Chester, PA; University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC; University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, TX; Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA; and Alabama State University in Montgomery, AL.   

He has published several research articles, book chapters, and 2 textbook editions related to biomechanics content. His texts have been translated in Spanish, French, and Italian. He has lectured nationally and internationally on topics covering biomechanics.

This is a clearly written and clearly illustrated text. It begins with the physical principles involved, and relates body movement and strength to the underlying physics. It extends the analysis of exercise equipment and therapeutic exercises to these same physical principles. .

This is a well written, but basic KM book. I found the title "Complete Guide... " misleading.

PROS -
Looks at KM from many practical and often forgotten critical perspectives, like corporate culture, payback, intellectual capital, strategic, etc.
Involves thoughts of Intellectual Capital experts on how to measure the ROI. However, this is a very debated matter and some alternative practical perspectives may be missing (e.g. Kaplan & Norton Strategic maps widely ussed in the US).
Good book for practitioners trying to make sense of knowledge management.

CONS -
Basic stuff. Very little behavioral background (e.g. manage Tacit to Explicit transformation and vice versa) or points of view of knowledge either as an organization process or as an 'asset' or models on how knowledge becomes commodity when it evolves into generally known matter.

This KM book is for every businessperson

I have to admit that when I hear Knowledge Management, I used to think of the technical side of this discipline, the many experts I know in cataloging, storing, accessing and sharing knowledge, especially in its digital form.

This book cured me of this bias. It is an effective reminder that the essence and the urgency of Knowledge Management is not in these technical skills but in the power of the people and shared experiences within organizations across the globe. The stories of successes and failures make a convincing case for the urgency of changing our management attitudes and practices.

It is so powerful because the book is built primarily on stories amassed over the fruitful careers of the two authors. The stories are synthesized in the accompanying text and through simple bullets at the end of each chapter. I'll probably go back and review the bullets later but what sticks with me are the stories.

The authors don't hit the reader over the head with this message--but the truth is that the process of knowledge management is actually subversive to industrial-era top-down practices. Rather than threatening us, the authors gently remind us the wisdom of shedding these old practices and adopting new ones that allow knowledge and innovation to flow freely--and fuel growth and the financial results that are still the measure by which business must be measured.

This is a great book that every modern manager should have by their desk--to pick up and flip to the applicable chapter when the old ways of doing business just aren't panning out.

Based on empirical ethnographic research it takes the reader from the remnants of Auschwitz concentration camp to the tranquil Australian island of Tasmania to explore precisely what things a dark tourist might encounter - architecture, art installations, gardens, memorials, physical traces of crime -  and how these things invoke and evoke past crimes.

This volume furthers understanding of dark tourism and will be of interest to students, researchers and academics of criminology, tourism and cultural studies.

About the Author

Derek Dalton is an Associate Professor in Criminal Justice at Flinders University Law School. His research interests cluster around the conflation of homosexuality and criminality. In 2012 he co-edited ‘Policing Sex’ (Routledge) with Paul Johnson. More recently, a project exploring tourism in sites where major crime has occurred (e.g. Auschwitz, the ‘Killing Fields’ of Cambodia, Port Arthur in Tasmania etcetera) has evolved over eight years of research.

This essay is outstanding and should be read by anyone who wants to fully understand what happened in their interaction of illusion with an NPD. I am one of those people who can handle most anything that life deals me as long as I can understand it. This book helped me to do just that - to understand what happened - and to come to terms with the end of my relationship with someone who acted unwilling (and was most probably unable)to treat me and my agenda with respect and dignity. The essay gave me insight into the soul of the narcissistic and the result was pure empathy for that person. I learned that I cannot let charm draw me back in for more hurt and pain because this disorder is bigger than me and my ability to handle the resulting discomfort. The author is to be highly commended for his work. I found it outstanding! Many thanks to the author for allowing it to be on Kindle as I am certain it will prove to be of help to a great many people.

Best Book on the Subject of Narcissism/Psycopathy

Excellent, excellent book, and the best I have seen on the subject of narcissism and psychopathy. Very well written, thoroughly researched, and obviously written by someone who knows the topic inside and out. This is the book you read last, after you've read all the amateur works that first get you familiar with the topic. One of the things I love about this book is that it was quite obviously written by someone familiar with the science of the topic and who has done substantial research of available literature, going back to Freud and earlier. It is not one of the cha-cha boutique books that are commonly written on the topic to satisfy the masses.

One of the reviews I read before I got this book mocked the writer because he did not have substantial credentials nor professional training, but that's just it...this topic is seldom well covered in the study of psychology and psycho analysis...and most professionals know scarcely little about it. My guess is that the vast majority of professional psychologists stick to the basic criteria defining narcissism and do not slot patients appropriately since they are unfamiliar with all the details of this psychosis. They do even less to alleviate the problems of an individual who has to deal with a narcissist/psychopath on a regular basis. Mr. Vaknin is, I believe the authority on this topic, and has educated himself and filled the holes that any psychology education would have easily left.

Previous to this, I found "Psychopath Free" to be the best of the genre, but it is rather heavy on emotions and rather light on substantiation.

If I have any issue with this work, it is that the last few chapters are obviously a summary of a larger work, hence a bit too thinly covered, particularly for the non-professional. Getting the original work is an obvious next step, although it is quite pricey and difficult to obtain.

I'd recommend this work highly to anyone who has had a harrowing experience being on the receiving end of this disease and wants to be thoroughly informed before proceeding with their own recovery, or interested in protecting their psyche from the many individuals out there who seem to suffer from the disease. Frankly, the current statistics on narcissists and psychopaths are, in my opinion, considerably understated.

This really helped me understand the few narcissists in my life. It also helped me be able to empathize with their very convoluted inner world and helped me come to grips with some of the inane behaviors I've seen them exhibit.

I'd recommend this book for anyone who has had to deal with an overt narcissist in their past or present.

A German national, Thomas Anderson is a specialist in German armored fighting vehicles of World War II. He has spent decades researching in archives throughout Germany and the rest of Europe to discover little known facts and never previously published photographs of the might of the Panzerwaffe. A modeler, he regularly contributes to popular modeling and historical magazines across the globe including Military Modelcraft International (UK), Steel Art (Italy), Historia Militar (Spain) and Batailles & Blindes (France) as well as many others. The author lives in Uetze-Haenigsen, Germany.

An original and novel work with just a few minor problems, would be appreciated by even those knowledgeable in the field

Many, if not most, multi-hundred page books published by Osprey publishing tend to be compilations of previously published Osprey books as opposed to being original works. Hence the first that should be said is about the book is that it is not compilation of previously published Osprey publications on German armour. Instead it is a new original work. This book, like so many Osprey publications (especially the older ones), is also not just a regurgitation or summary of previously published secondary sources. The author, Thomas Anderson, is fluent in German and has made very good use of his German through his very extensive use of original German language sources contained in the US and Germany and only relatively minor use of secondary sources.

In a nutshell the book is primarily about how german armoured doctrine developed over the pre-war and early war period, at a relatively high level (strategic and operational as opposed to tactical), organizational structure of panzer units (from divisional level down to platoon) and development over the same period, how the physical characteristics of the vechicles developed and a history of early war armoured battles (again, at a high level strategic and operational level as opposed to tactical level). Much of this discussion is based, as previously mentioned, on original German language documents. Hence it is not a rehash or synopsis of previously published material. It is very nice to see, for once, a novel discussion of german armoured doctrine, organizational structure, vehicles and battles. One area the book is particulary strong ,regarding novelty, are the many photographs. A very large number (but not all) are new and have either never or rarely been published before.

The book does suffer from a few weaknesses that prevent it from being worthy of five star rating. One is that, considering the discussion of vehicle's physical characteristics, there are no cut-aways or other illustrations showing the interiors or exteriors of vehicles. Related to this, it would have been nice to see comparative illustrations between German vehicles and those of England, Poland, France and the Soviet Union to better show the similarities and differences between these vehicle's physical characteristics. Another weakness is the lack of maps to discuss how campaigns progressed at the strategic and operational level. Very ironic given the space the book uses to discuss strategic and operational actions. Unfortunately this lack of comparison and contrast also extends to many other areas such as individual tank crew training for example (Germany made great efforts to insure that tank crews were trained together as an integral unit and were kept together as much as possible while other nations did not). A third problem is that organizational structures between Germany and other nations are not compared.

Despite these problems the book is still very original and novel. It is one that even those who are fairly knowledgeable in this field would probably appreciate and value. Four stars.
