"Puranam and Vanneste will change how you think about corporate strategy. They offer rigorous principles, frameworks and exercises to address some of the most crucial challenges of business leaders: how to compose the firm's portfolio, how to manage it and how to change it. A must-read for business students, business development professionals and senior executives."

"As someone at the corporate headquarters of a multinational business group, understanding corporate strategy and how to create value from the corporate center in a multi-business organization is something that I obsess with every day. There are no better guides than Puranam and Vanneste. Corporate Strategy combines analytical rigor and an academic foundation with easy-to-grasp real world application. Brilliant!"
Nirmalya Kumar, Member-Group Executive Council, Tata Sons

"Corporate Strategy is a wonderful book. It guides its readers through a number of corporate strategy issues and helps them think through how to make a good decision on that issue and how to justify the decision in a rigorous and clear way based on research rather than judgement or received wisdom. It does so in a refreshingly clear and practical way. This book will change the way we teach and practice corporate strategy."

One of the best books on strategy I have ever read:
By A Student
+ Puranam and Vanneste succeed in making complex models and theories accessible and fun to study
+ Coherent and logic overall structure of the book
+ Every chapter/issue is introduced by a case study scenario
+ Ideal combination of theory, references to academic studies/academic background, detailed explanations and application
+ Most important aspects are summarised in tables, figures or concluding statements
+ Concise language, easy to read, much less unnecessary lengthy repetitions than in other similar books
+ Much less daunting to read than many other course books
- Requires some prior understanding of business strategy, as book purely focuses on corporate strategy

The book was incredibly helpful for the understanding of my corporate strategy module at a leading university, and I think that this book could be useful for lecturers to structure similar modules.

Due to many illustrative examples and cases, the tools for analysis and decision-making are also interesting for practitioners.
I can very well imagine myself referring back to the book again during my professional career.

By M. Raveendran
This book manages to be both relevant for practitioners and very useful as a teaching tool. Each topic is introduced in a clear and concise way, enriched with examples that highlight the potential pitfalls and possible complexity of the decision making process.

Although the topics are complex, the authors manage to make them easily understandable and approachable. This is not a dry textbook, but a very enjoyable read.
